In his talk at the recent University of Pennsylvania Connected Health Symposium, Reflexion Health CEO Spencer Hutchins demonstated how the company has harnessed the Microsoft Kinect system as a new form of telemedicine for musculoskeletal disorders. Kinect is the motion-detecting camera device original designed for Microsoft's Xbox gaming system. The two-way interactive Reflexion program enables remote orthopedic surgeons or therapists to monitor and manage prescribed patient exercises between clinic visits. For patients, it provides the fun-like experience of "performing" on screen with an avatar coach who analyzes their techniques and progress.
