Hospital-to-hospital telemedicine services are rapidly expanding across the country and the University of Pennsylvania Health System is one of those involved in aggressive pilot projects. At the recent Penn Connected Health Symposium, Brendan Carr, MD, explained how Penn resuscitation scientists are pioneering telemedicine systems that provide on-call resuscitation specialists to distant hospital emergency departments through telemedicine carts that support real-time, two-way video and data communications beween physicians.
