While many of the concepts presented at the recent University of Pennsylvania Connected Health Symposium focused on digitally connecting doctors and patients, the work at the Leonard Davis Institute's Center for Health Incentives and Behavioral Economics (CHIBE) is different in the way it connects academic researchers directly to patients. Its "Way to Health" employer wellness platform has a "consumer" front end for employees and a back end that enables researchers to gather data from every relevant aspect of those wellness programs' operations, including outcomes. CHIBE chief Kevin Volpp explained the system.
